The Vancouver International Marathon was first run in 1972. Tom Howard of Surrey, British Columbia ran five laps of Stanley Park with a small number of marathon runners to complete the first Vancouver International Marathon. Howard won with in a time of 2:24:35.

The Vancouver International Marathon is run on a paved spectator-friendly course.

There will be an updated route for 2012.

* All entrants: $90 (before 13 Dec), $110 (before 20 Mar), $130 (before 3 May), $130 (at Expo)
* Registration Deadline : 3 May
* Charity Places : Runners are advised to contact their chosen charity
