The Montreal International Marathon is generally flat, providing a good oportunity for a personal best. Runners will pass
through various interesting and historical areas including Notre-Dame Island, the Canada Grand Prix F1 Circuit, Old Montreal,
City Townhall, Place Vauquelin and Ramezay Castle.
Montreal International Marathon Route
The race starts at the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Runners head towards and past the La Ronde amusement park.
They then head past the Biosphere and around the outside of Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit, home of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix.
This takes runners to approximately the 10km point before crossing the River Saint-Laurent. Next, the route takes athletes through
downtown Montreal. They pass the Notre Dame Basilique in the old town before passing the The Holocaust Commemorative Museum at
Cote Ste. Catherine on the way to the half-way stage.
Past the 13 mile/21km stage, runners head past the Galerie d'art Leonard et Bina Ellen on Maisonneuve West. They continue on, passing
Parc Lafaontainne. From there the route carries on northwards, then eastwards reaching the Botanical Gardens just after the 37km point.
From their the finish line is in site. The remaining 5km circles round the gardens, guiding runners in towards the Olympic Stadium
where they finish their 26 miles in the splendour of the Olympic venue.
